The historic 11-story, 133,930 square foot Lafayette Building was built in 1925 and fully restored in 1984.

The exterior facade of the building consists of three distinct parts: base, shaft and crown. The base of the facade extends up the first three levels of the building and the crown is composed of glazed terra-cotta units (Italian Renaissance) with the top of the crown having a stamped copper cornice. The shaft and secondary elevations are brick veneer.

The mezzanine level has a large "Ball Room" with wood floors, stained raised-wood paneling and a plaster ceiling.

The Lafayette Building is within walking distance of the Arkansas State Capitol; the year-round, indoor/outdoor River Market, within the new River Market District on the waterfront; and the William J. Clinton Presidential Library.
